Live at the Cinegrill
Live at the Cinegrill
2001
Released by CD Baby
Description:
Yes folks, we've included it all laughs tears, even cutlery against plates. Performing for an audience in the flesh is humbling, challenging, transformative and inspiring. To me, singing is like breathing I just have to do it. And making people laugh... well, it's like quenching a fearsome thirst. Over the years though, discouragement has taken its toll. I gave up performing live for 9 years but in 1994 I was honored to make a comeback at the Cinegrill. Since then I've always tried to start and finish my tours in my "home room" at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. And why not? Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks Sr. put up most of the money to build it and in 1929 the first Academy Awards ceremony was held there in the Blossom Room. Here's your seat front and center at the Cinegrill for one of my favorite shows in June 2000.
I highly recommend this recording during rush hour. Think of it as cabaret for your car or as my ever enthusiastic and supportive daughter, Ariel calls it...CARBARET. I had a lot of help from some amazing people who have always gone out of the way to encourage me. To Peter Bogdanovich, James Viera, Tom Adams, Larry Goldman, Laura Vander Heyden and Jason Martin ...my deepest gratitude. Special thanks to my daughter Clementine for introducing me to Janis Ian's "Belle Of The Blues" and insisting I sing it.
To my son Zack for his constant support and for not charging me the fifty bucks I promised for bringing me flowers every night after my first encore. To my fans ...my eternal devotion.
All Blessings to all ya'll.
